Applications Engineer/Specialist – Force Products

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Applications Engineering, Force Products, the primary responsibilities of the Applications Engineer/Specialist – Force Products is to perform manufacturing engineering activities necessary to support the production of Force Products goods and to perform engineering design activities necessary to support for the completion of customers’ orders for Force Products, including supporting Sales, producing engineering design artifacts for production purposes and providing technical support to customers. The secondary responsibility of this role is to perform on-site commissioning services, annual service, and emergency service; worldwide travel will be required for this activity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Reporting to Manager, Applications Engineering, Force Products, and the responsibilities of the Applications Engineer/Specialist will include:

 

  • Providing technical support to the manufacturing of Force Products (primarily Force Transducers, some support on Force Electronics)
  • Undertake Design Maintenance work for KELK Force Products (i.e. ECR/ECN, Drawing updates, etc.)
  • Provide Sales Support for KELK Force Products
  • Provide applications design expertise for KELK Force Products
  • Provide installation supervision and commissioning services
  • Provide scheduled and unscheduled annual service
  • Provide office to site support, via email, phone and remote connection
  • Proved product training to customers on site and in house
  • Provide feedback and contribute to product development for new Force Products

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or post-secondary education (diploma) with appropriate experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with control, automation and electromechanical products and systems in an industrial, automotive, or aerospace environment, preferred; Electronics Technician, Mechanical Technician, Applications Technician experience considered
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with manufacturing engineering with experience in modern machine shops, with both manual and CNC machines (including CNC programming), general machining, tool design, milling, welding, turning, and basic metallurgy and quality inspection tools
  • Or some combination of the above experiences will also be considered
  • PEng., E.I.T. or similar designation desired

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applied mechanical engineering and applied electronics experience, in rolling mill practice ideal, otherwise similar industrial control experience required
  • Applied Manufacturing Engineering experience with machine shops, desired
  • Extensive experience with 2D CAD applications like AutoCAD or Draftsight
  • Extensive experience with 3D CAD applications, SolidWorks preferred
  • Working knowledge of GD&T standards
  • Working knowledge of Metrology, as it pertains to physical/mechanical measurements

 

This position requires some foreign travel, also working in metal rolling mills and on mining industry sites.  A sound awareness and experience of industrial safety procedures is required.
